Nedlands Junior Rugby Union Football Club

The Junior Club is an integral part of the Nedlands Rugby Club. The Junior Club generally has teams from U6 through to U17. and both boys and girls are eligible to play. The junior club has been operating for 20 years and we now have 2 and 3 generations from the same family as members of our club.

Junior Player Development. Junior rugby is player development oriented. Players generally must play within their age group or the age group 1 year older. The players commence at Under 7 where they play a game where players do not tackle and there are no scrums or lineouts. The playing ground is smaller and less players are allowed on the field at any one time. Progressively as the players learn their skills, more parts of the game are activated so that by Under 13 the teams are full 15 man teams playing all facets of the game.

Coaching. All coaches come from the club membership. All coaches are vetted and selected by the Club and are qualified to ARU standards including Smart Rugby compliant.

Player Registration. Players must be registered with the Club. Registration Day is in February but registrations can be made during the playing season.

Training. Training is at the Nedlands Foreshore on Thursdays (during the season) from 5 until 6pm.  For the older grades Tuesday also.

Social Events. The club has weekend camps, BBQs and trophy day for all the players. At times during the year we have discos for the older players and their friends. Parents have a number of social evenings which usually include a Xmas in July and a Mouse Racing evening.

End of Year Trip. The older boys are encouraged to have an end of year rugby trip. In past years this has been to Kalgoorlie, Denmark and other places where games are played with the host club. This trip is funded by the players.
